Accountant resume example

A full accounts resume, not a screenshot — the document our Accounts Executive · Outline template produces, scoring 95/100 on our 30 published ATS rules. It shows the two things accounts hiring checks first: which statutory returns you file with your own hands, and the scale of the books you keep.

95/100interview-ready

Measured by exporting this exact resume and running it through the 30 rules we publish. Certified: we only badge templates at 90 or above, a stricter bar than the 85 our checker calls interview-ready, so the design leaves headroom for your own content.

Why these bullets work

Every line below is taken verbatim from the resume above.

Own accounts payable, receivable and the month-end close for a $28 million textile manufacturer with 140 vendors

Scope stated with the company size and vendor count. A controller can tell in a second whether the candidate has run a ledger this big.

Close the books by business day 5 every month for three years; previously day 9

The close date is the accountant's lap time. Day 5, down from day 9, is a measurable improvement the reader can picture.

Cut days sales outstanding from 58 to 41 with a weekly dunning cadence and credit holds on 90-day accounts

DSO is cash, and the bullet says how: a cadence and a policy, not a personality trait.

File sales tax in California, Nevada and Oregon; four external audits passed with no adjustments

Multi-state tax with an audit record. 'No adjustments' is the cleanest sentence in accounting.

Making it yours

  • State your QuickBooks version explicitly — Prime 4.x reads very differently from ERP 9 to a hiring firm.
  • Keep the statutory filings block literal (monthly sales-tax returns, 3B, 9, payroll withholding 24Q/26Q); those exact strings are what screeners search.
  • Give client or entity count wherever you can — it is the clearest measure of the book you can carry.
  • If you are a new grad, put your QuickBooks or sales tax practitioner course in Certifications with the issuer, not buried in Education.

Common questions

How long should an accountant resume be?

One page up to about eight years. Accounts hiring scans for software, statutory forms and scale — all three fit on one page, and a second page usually just repeats them.
