Design fresher resume format
Bachelor of Design (and BFA)
Design studios and product teams hire on the portfolio, and the resume's only jobs are to get it opened and to prove the internship shipped something. This format puts the portfolio link in the header, writes the internship with shipped counts, and keeps the tools list to what is in the portfolio.

Scored 94/100, interview-ready against the 30 published rules, measured by exporting this exact sample. Certified: we only badge templates at 90 or above, a stricter bar than the 85 our checker calls interview-ready, so the design leaves headroom for your own content.

What to write when you have no job yet
A fresher resume is not empty; it is built from different material. For a B.Des, the material is this, each line with a number:
- ✓A studio or agency internship with work that shipped: campaigns, screens, illustrations, counted.
- ✓Freelance work for real clients with the deliverables.
- ✓A competition rank or a published piece.
- ✓College identity, fest or publication work with its audience.
Skills, with the proof that makes each one credible
A skill you cannot defend in the interview is worse than one you leave off. Each of these is listed with what proves it.
- Core tools
- Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects: only the ones in the portfolio.
- Typography and layout
- A published piece that shows it.
- Design process
- Research, iterations and a result for one project.
- Prototyping
- A clickable prototype with a link.
- Presentation
- Work presented to a client or a jury and what they did with it.
The Indian details other builders skip
Marksheets, objectives, the declaration block, the credential a shortlist is actually built on. For a B.Des:
- CGPA or percentage
- Print the percentage or CGPA in one line and move on: "B.Des Communication Design, CGPA 8.2/10". Nobody in design hiring filters on it; the portfolio filters.
- The career objective
- “B.Des Communication Design graduate with a studio internship that shipped 40 campaign assets and a portfolio of published identity work, seeking a junior graphic or visual designer role.”
- The credential that gates the shortlist
- The portfolio link, first in the header. A Google UX or an Adobe certificate is secondary and optional.
- What to leave off
- Leave off father's name, date of birth, marital status, religion, caste, nationality and a photo unless the posting asks for one. None of it helps a shortlist and some of it invites bias. Drop the declaration block and the signature line too: a PDF sent from your own email is already yours. Keep the page to name, phone, email, city and one link.
- Campus drive or off-campus
- For a campus drive, lead with the degree, marks and projects; the recruiter is comparing you to classmates and reads the page in twenty seconds. For an off-campus or Naukri application, move the internship and the role-specific skills up, match the posting's words, and set your Naukri headline to the role you want, not the degree you hold. The free Naukri profile maker writes that headline from this resume.

Common questions
Does a designer need a resume at all?
Yes: ATS portals and HR teams still read one before the portfolio opens. Keep it plain, one page, link at the top.
Should the resume itself be heavily designed?
No. A resume that fights the parser gets rejected before a human sees it. Put the design in the portfolio; keep the resume clean and readable.
