B.Tech CSE fresher resume format

B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering

Software recruiters read a CSE fresher's resume from the projects up: what you built, whether it is deployed, and whether the link works. Then the internship, then the CGPA cut-off. This format puts projects with GitHub links above the fold and keeps the skills to what you can defend in an interview.

What to write when you have no job yet

A fresher resume is not empty; it is built from different material. For a B.Tech CSE, the material is this, each line with a number:

  • Two or three deployed projects with a live link and a GitHub link, each with users, requests or a measured improvement.
  • An internship, even remote or unpaid, with what shipped and who reviewed it.
  • Open-source contributions with the repository and the merged pull requests counted.
  • Hackathons with the rank and the team size; DSA practice with the problem count and the platform.

Skills, with the proof that makes each one credible

A skill you cannot defend in the interview is worse than one you leave off. Each of these is listed with what proves it.

One language, deeply
Java, Python or JavaScript with a project that shows you past the syntax.
Data structures and algorithms
Problem count on LeetCode or Codeforces and a rating if you have one.
Web or app framework
React, Node.js, Spring Boot or Flutter with a deployed link.
Databases
MySQL or PostgreSQL with the schema you designed and the row count.
Git and deployment
A repository with a real commit history and something running on AWS, Vercel or Render.

The Indian details other builders skip

Marksheets, objectives, the declaration block, the credential a shortlist is actually built on. For a B.Tech CSE:

CGPA or percentage
Print the CGPA exactly: "B.Tech CSE, CGPA 8.4/10". Product companies and service majors both use CGPA cut-offs between 6.5 and 8, so it must be visible. Add the Class XII percentage beneath; some campus drives still filter on it.
The career objective
“B.Tech CSE graduate with an SDE internship that shipped a Spring Boot service to 40 users and three deployed projects, seeking a software engineer role on a backend or full-stack team.”
The credential that gates the shortlist
There is no licence; the credential is the deployed project. A GitHub link with real commits and a live URL that works on the day the recruiter clicks it beats any certificate. AWS Cloud Practitioner or an Oracle Java certificate can follow, with years.
What to leave off
Leave off father's name, date of birth, marital status, religion, caste, nationality and a photo unless the posting asks for one. None of it helps a shortlist and some of it invites bias. Drop the declaration block and the signature line too: a PDF sent from your own email is already yours. Keep the page to name, phone, email, city and one link.
Campus drive or off-campus
For a campus drive, lead with the degree, marks and projects; the recruiter is comparing you to classmates and reads the page in twenty seconds. For an off-campus or Naukri application, move the internship and the role-specific skills up, match the posting's words, and set your Naukri headline to the role you want, not the degree you hold. Common questions

How many projects should a CSE fresher list?

Two or three that work, with links. Six unfinished ones read as padding, and a recruiter who clicks a dead link stops reading.

Should I list every language I have touched?

No. List the ones you would answer questions on for an hour. A skills line with twelve languages is the fastest way to a hard interview question you cannot answer.
