MBA fresher resume format
Master of Business Administration
An MBA fresher is judged on the summer internship and the specialisation, in that order. Marketing recruiters want a campaign with reach and conversion, finance recruiters want a model and a recommendation, HR recruiters want hiring or engagement numbers. This format puts the internship at the top and names the specialisation in the header.

What to write when you have no job yet
A fresher resume is not empty; it is built from different material. For a MBA, the material is this, each line with a number:
- ✓The summer internship, written as a project with a result: the problem, what you did, the number at the end.
- ✓A live project or consulting assignment from college, with the client's size and your recommendation.
- ✓Pre-MBA work experience, even a year, in its own section above the internship.
- ✓Case competitions and placements committee roles, each with a rank or a count.
Skills, with the proof that makes each one credible
A skill you cannot defend in the interview is worse than one you leave off. Each of these is listed with what proves it.
- Business analysis
- A model or analysis from the internship and what decision it fed.
- Specialisation tools
- Marketing: Google Ads and Analytics with a campaign; Finance: Excel modelling and a valuation; HR: an HRIS and a hiring drive.
- Presentation and client communication
- A final review presented to the sponsor and what they did with it.
- Project management
- A live project's timeline you held, with the team size.
- Data tools
- Excel, Power BI or SQL with a dashboard someone still opens.
The Indian details other builders skip
Marksheets, objectives, the declaration block, the credential a shortlist is actually built on. For a MBA:
- CGPA or percentage
- Print the MBA CGPA and the undergraduate percentage on separate lines. Placement cells often set a CGPA cut-off, so state it plainly: "MBA (Marketing), CGPA 7.6/10". Include the CAT, XAT or CMAT percentile only if it is above 90; otherwise it distracts.
- The career objective
- “MBA (Marketing) with a summer internship that grew a regional campaign's leads 35% and two live projects for consumer brands, seeking a management trainee role in brand or channel sales.”
- The credential that gates the shortlist
- The specialisation is the credential, so it goes in the header title and in the degree line. Add-on certificates that recruiters recognise: NISM for finance, Google Ads for marketing, SHRM-CP is for later. Keep it to two, with years.
- What to leave off
- Leave off father's name, date of birth, marital status, religion, caste, nationality and a photo unless the posting asks for one. None of it helps a shortlist and some of it invites bias. Drop the declaration block and the signature line too: a PDF sent from your own email is already yours. Keep the page to name, phone, email, city and one link.
- Campus drive or off-campus
- For a campus drive, lead with the degree, marks and projects; the recruiter is comparing you to classmates and reads the page in twenty seconds. For an off-campus or Naukri application, move the internship and the role-specific skills up, match the posting's words, and set your Naukri headline to the role you want, not the degree you hold. The free Naukri profile maker writes that headline from this resume.

Common questions
One page or two for an MBA fresher?
One page without prior work experience; two pages if you have two or more years before the MBA. The summer internship must be on the first half of page one either way.
Should the objective say I am open to any function?
No. An open objective reads as no preference. Name the function and the kind of work, and change it per application if you are applying to two functions.
