CA fresher resume format
Chartered Accountancy
A newly qualified CA is hired on the articleship, not the qualification: which audits you led, the turnover band, what you handled in tax and how much of it was yours. This format writes the articleship as real experience, with the attempt and the membership status stated once and clearly.

Jobs a CA fresher applies for
What to write when you have no job yet
A fresher resume is not empty; it is built from different material. For a CA, the material is this, each line with a number:
- ✓The three-year articleship, written as a job: audits led with turnover bands, returns filed per year, assessments attended.
- ✓Industrial training in the last year, if you took it, with the financials you prepared.
- ✓Any tool or template you built for the firm that outlived your term.
- ✓CA Final rank or exemptions, in Education, if you have them.
Skills, with the proof that makes each one credible
A skill you cannot defend in the interview is worse than one you leave off. Each of these is listed with what proves it.
- Statutory and tax audit
- Count of audits, turnover band, and whether you led the fieldwork or supported it.
- Direct tax and assessments
- Returns per year, and assessments you prepared submissions for, with the section.
- GST
- Clients handled, reconciliations run, and one problem you found.
- Ind AS
- Financials prepared or reviewed under it, for what kind of entity.
- Tools
- Tally, SAP FI, Excel with Power Query, and the tax software the firm used.
The Indian details other builders skip
Marksheets, objectives, the declaration block, the credential a shortlist is actually built on. For a CA:
- CGPA or percentage
- For a CA, the attempt matters more than a percentage. Write "CA Final, November 2025, first attempt" if it was; if it was not, write the month and year only and let the articleship carry the page. Print the B.Com percentage on its own line beneath.
- The career objective
- “Chartered Accountant (November 2025) with three years of articleship leading statutory audits up to 250 crore turnover and handling tax compliance for 30 clients, seeking an audit associate role.”
- The credential that gates the shortlist
- The membership number, once ICAI issues it, goes in the header next to the title. Until then, "membership applied for" in the Education details line. Never leave the qualification date out; it is the first thing an audit firm checks.
- What to leave off
- Leave off father's name, date of birth, marital status, religion, caste, nationality and a photo unless the posting asks for one. None of it helps a shortlist and some of it invites bias. Drop the declaration block and the signature line too: a PDF sent from your own email is already yours. Keep the page to name, phone, email, city and one link.
- Campus drive or off-campus
- For a campus drive, lead with the degree, marks and projects; the recruiter is comparing you to classmates and reads the page in twenty seconds. For an off-campus or Naukri application, move the internship and the role-specific skills up, match the posting's words, and set your Naukri headline to the role you want, not the degree you hold. Common questions
Do I list the articleship under experience or education?
Experience. It is three years of professional work under supervision and audit firms read it exactly that way. Education holds the CA levels and the B.Com.
Should I mention how many attempts each level took?
Only when it helps: a first attempt at Final is worth a line. Otherwise state the qualifying month and year and move on. The articleship and the audits you ran decide the shortlist.
